welcome
to the Littoral region, the commercial avenue of the country. Main commercial activities are found in the littoral province . The town of Douala brings together various ethnic groups coming from all the provinces for economical purposes. Douala contributes to the rapid expansion of conference and business tourism, thanks to its modern and prestigious infrastructures (conference centres, international airport, luxury hotels…).many excursions are organized from Douala to the surroundings of the region. The
name “Cameroon” takes its origin from the Wouri river. Portuguese
and Spanish discovered enormous quantity of prawns in that river with
delicious taste. They decided to call that river the prawns’ river;”rio
dos camaroes” and “rio dos los camarones” in the languages of the
explorators. Later, the name of the country will finally come from that
exotic story.
